a little help

Maxxie was beginning to wonder why he even tried at these auditions. He thought he was the top of his game. He was just as good as any of them.

He did his core exercises every morning. He ran through the park a couple of times a week when given a chance. He worked out every day. And still nothing. It was so depressing. And it wasn't much better with Tony. It was all so one sided. Maxxie had to admit, he was just Tony's boy-toy. But still, he took whatever Tony was giving him. He'd be happy one moment and sad the next.

He knew if Sid did come back, Tony would never tell him what was going on between them. He just knew it. He was hardly even a flat-mate to him at work. Except when, he wanted to chance it in the woman's loo. It was a might nicer place to fuck than what they had at the moment. Little by little, bits of construction was happening. But really, Maxxie thought it would take forever.

Everything seemed to be taking forever. Everything.

And then he found Sketch in the plaza where he generally went for auditions. Naturally, he acted as if he didn't know of her existence, but she caught up to him.

"Don't you want to know what happened to Anwar and me?" She pulled him around to face her.

"No, I don't want to know about you and Anwar." He scowled. "Did you marry him?"

"No." She was her brutal self.

"Anwar left me for Georgie." She said so sullen as if this was all Maxxie's fault.

"Georgie?" Maxxie hadn't meant to smirk. Seriously, it was funny. "How did it happen?"

"He got him drunk and the rest is history." She sadly frowned.

"Sorry." He remained even lipped.

"No, you're not."

"Actually, I'm not. Good for Anwar."

"But your boyfriend fuck'n Anwar."

"So." Maxxie wouldn't let it get to him.

"I thought you secretly wanted my boyfriend." She gave him a swollen frown.

"He was my mate first. He only felt sorry for you." Maxxie shrugged.

"No, he didn't. I satisfied him. Completely." She hugged herself.

"Then why is he with Georgie?"

"Because of you." She glared.

"Why are you even here?" She was the last person he ever expected to meet on the streets of London.

"I'm an assistant." She shrugged.

"To what? Every loo in the park?" Maxxie winced.

"Shut it, far more important than what you have." She remained cross with him.

"I bet."

"I get paid enough."

"Go on."

"There's a musical and I'm helping with the casting." She looked at him as if he might be interested.

"And?" Did she have to make such a production of it, he thought.

"You might be interested." She looked him in the eye.

"Possibly."

"If you give it a try, I could put a good word in for you."

"Why?" He gave her a soured look.

"I would do anything for you, Maxxie. You know I would."

"Anything?" Maxxie bit his bottom lip. He supposed a little help wouldn't hurt.
